Sexual Health Services and Support for BC
In a culture that often “gets weird” about sexuality and reproductive health, Options for Sexual Health (OPT) provides an essential service — they offer non-judgmental access to sexual health information, and confidential clinical services. They’ve been around in BC since 1961, and when Communicopia was hired to work with them, we were immediately struck by their professionalism, their integrity, and their passion.
OPT’s old website, however, lacked the clarity and the focus that we found in their staff. It suffered from a very common problem — namely that over time, the addition of new content had left the website cluttered and difficult to navigate. Our objective was to tell the story of OPT, organize the website so it was scalable into the future, and give them the functionality that met the needs of their organization and their visitors.
We broke down their many activities into three primary categories — education, clinical services, and advocacy – and simplified the site’s navigation to make it easy for users to find what they came seeking. After all, when you’re a teenager looking for an answer to an “embarrassing” question, the last thing you want is to get lost while you’re looking!
And we’re proud of the end product. We’re also proud that we were able to deliver them all the functionality they needed, within their budget. They’ve even got an online store, and soon will be able to offer online booking for clinic appointments around BC.
