Today I was emailed by Shannon Raybold (The High Priestess of Web, AKA Internet Director of the United Nations Foundation) to update Nothing But Nets' Net-o-meter. She explained they received a nice chunk of the millions of dollars contributed by American Idol's Idol gives Back.
I carried out the coding necessary to add this contribution and refreshed the homepage to see the revised total of bed nets. The new total in the Net-o-meter was so large that the horizontal space was too narrow and the number wrapped underneath itself.
It's amazing. In just over a year Nothing But Nets has reached over 1,000,000 nets. That's over $10,000,000 dollars! Considering when we launched the campaign in Nov 2006 our target was $5M this is pretty fantastic news. Go ahead and check it out. While you're at it take a look at the recently launched Interactive Net Distribution Map we created for the website that shows how Malaria bednets are making a difference and where our campaign is headed.

Way to make an impact!
Wow. That's so awesome! Way to make an impact!
Amazing news, Darrrell
Congrats to everyone there. I was flipping through Newsweek last night and came across this little mention of the campaign from Bill Gates:
". . . At the same time, I'm amazed by the work of the Nothing But Nets campaign, which has managed through Web-based marketing to raise $13 million—mostly from young people—for insecticide-treated bed nets."
